The NATIONAL ELECTRICAL COMPANY (DEH) in order to increase the supplies to the NORTHERN SPORADES of more electric energy, has decided to lay a submarine cable that will come from the Pelion to Kechrias then going overland with a high voltage line (150.000 Volts) across all the length of the northern department of Skiathos and with a total distance of 6,000 metres on pylons, with 25 pylons of 26 metres height. Apart from the known serious problems of health that networks of high voltage electricity create to human beings, and the heavy repercussions on the fauna and the flora of this region, the line will also go through an area (one of the last in Skiathos) of great natural beauty. As is marked on the plan the route of the line of roughly 2 kilometres will go through land characterized with PD 13-6-77 (OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE HELLENIC REPUBLIC 248/td'/20-6-77) as virgin forest which is included in program NATURA 2000 and in the RAMSAR treaty. It passes also through regions of high agricultural productivity, over a residential area that is lived in all the time, through localities which have been a source of inspiration for the stories of Alexander Papadiamanti and where also exist many archaeological and historic places (the ancient ship yard, The Monastery of the Virgin Mary at Kechrias, Ag.Anastasia with the ancient watchtower, the ancient settlement in the place of Virgin Mary Kardasi, Ag. Neos Apostolos, The Monastery of the Eyangelismoy of the Virgin Mary, The Monastery of Ag.Haralambos, the ancient cemetery, Neolithic Settlement in Cape Kefalos, etc.) If the work is realised it will destroy the area through which the line passes (olive groves and virgin forest). Because of the difficulty of access for the placement of the pylons, many new roads with a width of at least 5 metres will be necessary which will thus destroy the wider northern region of island. Despite the protests of residents of Skiathos, the unanimous decisions 178/1996 and 66/2002 of Council of Skiathos, the 142/2002 decision of the Municipal Council of Skopelos and the unanimous decision 29/19-3-98 of the Prefectoral Council of Magnesia not to allow this work to take place and the application of the Municipality of Skiathos to the Council of State (which should have been discussed on the 29-5-2002 but after continuous postponements will finally be discussed on 9-6-2004) the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL COMPANY continues in its preparations for the construction of this overland high voltage line.
It is known that there exists an increased need for electric energy especially during the summer months, however there is the solution of a submarine cable from the Pelion up to the substation in Skiathos that exempts this small island from all the negative consequences of a high voltage overland line and from the destruction of all of the northern department that up to now has been saved from uncontrolled development and that still has the possibility of correct development with proper regard to the astonishing beauty and uniqueness of its environment. The friends and the residents of Skiathos, the Municipality and the island institutions ask that the DEH halt all preparations for the construction of a high voltage overhead line and start the drawing up plans for an entirely undersea solution or any other solution that does not cause damage to the environment of Skiathos.
Σκιάθος 5 –1-2004
Η ΔΕΗ για να τροφοδοτήσει τις Β.ΣΠΟΡΑΔΕΣ με επι πλέον ηλεκτρική
ενέργεια ,αποφάσισε το υποβρύχιο καλώδιο που θα έλθει από το Πήλιο
να διέλθει στη συνέχεια με εναέρια γραμμή υψηλής τάσης (150 000 Volts)
κατά μήκος όλου του βόρειου τμήματος της Σκιάθου και σε μήκος 6 χιλιο-
μέτρων σε πυλώνες 8 και 17 ιστούς ύψους 26 μέτρων.
Εκτός από τα γνωστά σοβαρά προβλήματα υγείας που δημιουργούν τα
δίκτυα υψηλής τάσης στους ανθρώπους , και τις βαρύτατες επιπτώσεις
στην πανίδα και την χλωρίδα της ευρύτερης περιοχής ,η γραμμή θα διέλθει
από περιοχές μεγάλου φυσικού κάλλους.
Ας σημειωθεί ότι τμήμα της γραμμής περίπου 2 χιλιομέτρων θα διέλθει
από χαρακτηρισμένο με το ΠΔ 13-6-77 (ΦΕΚ 248/ ΤΔ΄/20-6-77) αισθητικό
δάσος το οποίο συμπεριλήφθηκε στo πρόγραμμα ΝΑΤURA 2000
και στη συνθήκη RAMSAR.
Περνάει επίσης από περιοχές υψηλής γεωργικής παραγωγικότητας ,
επάνω από οικισμό που κατοικείται όλο το χρόνο, από τοποθεσίες όπου
κυρίως εξελίχθηκαν τα γεγονότα που περιγράφονται στα διηγήματα του
Αλ.Παπαδιαμάντη και όπου υπάρχουν οι περισσότεροι αρχαιολογικοί και
ιστορικοί χώροι (αρχαίο ναυπηγείο,Ι.Μονή Παναγίας Κεχριάς , Αγ.Αναστα-
σιά με την αρχαία φρυκτωρία , αρχαίος οικισμός στη θέση Παναγία Καρδάση, Αγ.Νέος Απόστολος ,Ι.Μ.Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου ,Ι.Μ.Αγ.Χαραλάμπους,
αρχαίο νεκροταφείο, Νεολιθικός Οικισμός στο ακρωτήριο Κέφαλος κ.λ.π.)
Εάν το έργο πραγματοποιηθεί δεν θα καταστραφεί μόνο η ζώνη διέλευσης
της γραμμής (ελαιώνες και αισθητικό δάσος).Λόγω της μορφολογίας του
εδάφους θα χρειασθεί να γίνουν δρόμοι προσπέλασης για τις θέσεις των
πυλώνων – ιστών ,πλάτους τουλάχιστον 5 μέτρων, και έτσι θα καταστραφεί
η ευρύτερη βόρεια περιοχή του νησιού.
Παρά τις διαμαρτυρίες των κατοίκων της Σκιάθου ,τις ομόφωνες αποφάσεις
178 / 1996 και 66/2002 του Δημοτικού Συμβουλίου Σκιάθου , την 142/2002
απόφαση του Δημ.Συμβουλίου Σκοπέλου και την ομόφωνη απόφαση
29 /19-3-98 του Νομαρχιακού Συμβουλίου Μαγνησίας για την μη κατασκευή
του έργου και την προσφυγή του Δήμου Σκιάθου στο Συμβούλιο Επικρατείας
που ενώ ήταν να συζητηθεί στις 29-5-2002 με συνεχείς αναβολές θα συζη-
τηθεί τελικά στις 9-6-2004 ,η ΔΕΗ προχωρά στην αναγκαστική απαλλοτρίωση
των εκτάσεων που χρειάζονται για την κατασκευή της εναέριας γραμμής.
Είναι γνωστό ότι υπάρχουν αυξημένες ανάγκες σε ηλεκτρική ενέργεια
κυρίως τους καλοκαιρινούς μήνες ,υπάρχει όμως και η λύση του υποβρύχιου
καλωδίου από το Πήλιο μέχρι τον υποσταθμό στη Σκιάθο που απαλλάσσει
ένα μικρό νησί από όλες τις αρνητικές συνέπειες της εναέριας γραμμής υψηλής
τάσης και από την καταστροφή όλου του βόρειου τμήματος που μέχρι τώρα έχει
διασωθεί από την ανεξέλεγκτη δόμηση και που έχει την δυνατότητα μιας
ελεγχόμενης , σωστής ανάπτυξης με πρώτιστο μέλημα την διαφύλαξη του
εκπληκτικής ομορφιάς και μοναδικότητας περιβάλλοντος.
Οι φίλοι και οι κάτοικοι της Σκιάθου ,η Δημοτική Αρχή και οι φορείς του
νησιού ζητούν την παύση όλων των ενεργειών για την κατασκευή της
εναέριας γραμμής και την σύνταξη μελέτης για την εξ ολοκλήρου υποβρύχια
παροχή ηλ.ρεύματος στον υποσταθμό της Σκιάθου.
