Used Supermarket next to Stamelos for 21 days in June, found staff helpful, advised me of exchange rate with courtesy even though I did not change money and passed reasonable rate info. onto fellow tourist at my accommation, made up rolls and Baclava cake reasonably priced . Have visited Molyvos, Anaxos, Sigri,Scala Eresou, Skala Kallonis on Lesvos,it is cheaper there,(set meals for two at Anaxos 17 euros approx.,did not come across this on Skiathos) but most of the beaches are not suitable for children as the sand is course and does not build sand castles easily,and it can be difficult getting in and out of the sea.
