AFISSOS
|
The Pagasitikos Gulf side of Pelion is the "softer" side
of the peninsular. The beaches are sandier and they are protected from the north wind
which can stir up the sea on the Aegean side. Afissos is built like an amphitheatre around its bay and from the sea is reminiscent of a Greek Island. There is a small stream which runs through the shady square of Afissos and legend has it that the Argonauts slaked their thirst here before setting out on their adventures. |
| Afissos is very popular in the summer. With three beaches nearby and the possibility to visit many of the Pelion mountain villages, tourists often base themselves here and make excursions to the interior. |
