PELION

Welcome to our Pelion web pages. In these pages we will describe the area of Greece known as the Pelion Peninsular which was famous in ancient Greek times for the Centaurs who lived here and Chiron, the old Centaur who taught many of the Greek heroes.

Pelion is now well known for it's outstanding natural beauty, it's pleasant climate and it's unspoilt character.
It is a place for all seasons, from the wild flowers in spring, cool beauty and clear swimming waters in summer, wonderful colours as the trees change their leaves in autumn, snow for skiing and clean air for breathing in the winter.

The Pelion Peninsular and it's surrounding areas is still one of the most unspoilt parts of Greece. It has not been affected by mass tourism and the local inhabitants have kept their life style unaffected by the influence of foreign cultures.

Here you will find everything from the sophisticated city of Volos to the simplicity of sheep herders spinning their own wool. From the ski slopes of Hania to the many beautiful beaches of the coastline, Pelion has something to offer to everyone at all times of the year.

A favourite spot for city-living Greeks to get away for the week-end, it has always offered a natural place for real relaxation.

TSAGBRIG.jpg (20563 bytes) Running water is one of the typical sights and sounds of Pelion. Everywhere you go, you will find small streams or rivers gushing down hillsides or meandering through valleys. The water is complimented by the greenery of the many different trees and bushes that crowd the hillsides.

Pelion Mountain rises to 1550 meteres with the ski slopes at 1470 metres.

The sea on the north-east side can be wild and stormy but on calm days it offers beautiful clear water for swimming. On the west side of the peninsular the weather is more clement and the water is usually a touch warmer. The many beaches vary from beautiful sea-shaped stones to fine sand.
