SOUTH PELION

AGAPOST.jpg (30934 bytes) Heading south from Neohori you first come to the large village of Argalasti. This village is the commercial centre for South Pelion and is built on a fertile plateau overlooking the Pagasitikos Gulf.

The church of Agion Apostolon is worth a visit as it is an exquisite sample of turn of the century architecture.

From Argalasti you can take the road down to the Gulf to the villages of Kalamos, Horto and Milina.

From Milina going south and west, you follow the coast passing through several small fishing villages until you reach the village of Trikeri perched high up on a crag overlooking the Pagasitikos Gulf and the channels to Evvia and Skiathos.

Down below is the port of Trikeri where you will find many fishing boats and slips for dragging boats out of the water for their yearly service.

The hydrofoil for Skiathos will often stop here and sometimes you can catch it to Trikeri Island where there is a monastery and a few houses.

From Milina you can take the road east towards Lafkos, Promiri, Mortias and Katigiorgis.
Katigiorgis is where we often sail to, from Skiathos, with our catamaran to feast on the fresh fish that is always available from Taverna Flisvos. It is a harbour that offers protection from the north winds.

Between Lafkos and Promiri, is a road going south to Platania and Kastri. Platania is another port which the hydrofoil visits on its trips between Volos and Skiathos.

From anywhere in south Pelion you have to return to Argalasti to continue on our tour.
